THE CRISIS OF CIVILIZATION AND THE ‘ART OF SURFING’
The subject of this text are the processes of change of a social order in terms of sociology of civilization. This context should allow to diagnose the actual state of order or (dis)order of contemporary society of the Western world, to understand its causes and consider future directions
This text presents the typology of scenarios of the social order crisis and civilization in social sciences, the main theoretical approaches to that crisis, and the typology of its phases. This will provide the basis for the discussion of these processes. Applications take into account predictions of the social order based on the “open account” scenario, the main assumptions of the “construction” of a new order in a changing civilization, the main opportunities and risks associated with these changes and the concept of “surfing through the civilizational crisis”.
